St Mary’s Holy Faith Killester offers students the opportunity to sit the Junior Certificate and the Leaving Certificate Further details on all matters pertaining to these examinations, (in addition to past examination papers) may be found at the State Examinations Commission website: (https://www.examinations.ie/).

St Mary’s Holy Faith Killester conducts house examinations as follows:

  1. Halloween tests for 1st, 2nd 3rd, 5th years and 6th years.
  2. Christmas exams for 1st, 2nd and 5th years.
  3. Mock Junior/Leaving Certificate in January/February for 3rd and 6th years.
  4. Summer Exams for 1st, 2nd and 5th years.

School reports are issued to parents following all of these school-based assessments.  This summative assessment is complemented by various methods of classroom assessment, both formal and informal.

All students are encouraged to develop a study plan and to review and revise this regularly.  After-school study is provided and all students are encouraged to avail of this and to develop good study habits.

External Leaving Certificate students are welcome to apply to sit their Leaving Certificate in the school.  This may incur an administration fee.  Applications should be made to the Secretary, Board of Management.   Details for external candidates may be found at: https://www.examinations.ie/?l=en&mc=ca&sc=ec
